We believe the solutions to Congo’s problems come from those living within them, struggling against them.
Falling Whistles is a campaign for peace in Congo. The whistle is a symbol of protest and we ask individuals to be whistleblowers for peace. We invest the proceeds from the whistle sales in Congolese visionaries, and we are building a global coalition for peace.
We began with a small story inside our world’s deadliest war; a single story of a single day. At a military internment camp in eastern Congo we met five former child soldiers. One of the boys told us of children sent to the frontlines, armed with only a whistle. That story birthed our symbol and was forwarded around the world to readers who wrote back asking—What can we do? How can we help? We have been working to answer their questions ever since.
We started with no home, no office and no plan—just $5 and a dream worth our everything. We pulled desks out of dumpsters, put them in our garage, and launched a campaign toward a goal most called impossible—peace in Congo.
Three years later we are investing in 6 Congolese leaders working with over 600 war-affected women and children. Today the coalition for peace includes 50,000 whistleblowers, 200 retailers, 77 organizations, 35 Congressmen and 16 Senators.
