“On my first day embedded with the UN stabilisation force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), I visited a camp in the city of Goma set up to house rebel combatants who had recently surrendered. The facility was split along ethnic and administrative lines, with only a chain-link fence separating Hutu and Tutsi fighters who, out in the bush, have been spilling each other’s blood by the bucket for decades.”

Dr. Mukwege: “We Can Conquer This Hatred and Help Congo by Working Together in Love”
Just days ago, Dr. Mukege was the target of an assassination attempt in Bukavu, Congo. After narrowly escaping, he recently gave this press conference in Stockholm, Sweden.

“When I came back and drove to the door, I met some men who were heavily armed. They forced their way into my car and they came with me into the courtyard. Their attack was made in 3 phases. The first phase was to get into the house and overpower all the people who were there - all my children and the people who work in my house.”

“Here’s the thing. The whole situation was an accident. It shouldn’t have ever happened. We shouldn’t have been let in. Shouldn’t have been asking to be let in. But in we went. A military encampment holding 5 Boys captive.
Just a couple of weeks back, Falling Whistles -Sverige hosted two fantastic nights of events at F12 in Stockholm. Over those two nights, over 1000 people came out to support, hundreds of whistles were sold, and our coalition grew stronger.
